Most of the audience in a stadium supports one of the teams/players. Offering player or team-branded multimedia content is a brilliant opportunity to engage fans. This content can be sponsored, or free, or a mixture of both (free + small payment, e.g. by sending in an SMS, etc.).
The match programme is a great example of an existing service that can go mobile. A mobile application with the programme is a fun and innovative approach, with special appeal to the younger fans. Such applications can include other promotional information, such as links to websites, ticket reservation phone numbers, SMS contests, etc.
Get the stadium audience to play a more active role by participating in the evaluation of the team or individual players, e.g. the MVP or Best Goal Award Vote. Simply set up an SMS Vote, or use a mobile phone application, and get a much more objective view on the subject. Allow them to voice their opinion by sending in an SMS and build a closer bond with your team fans by listening to what they have to say.
There are plenty of prizes related to the sports event that fans would love to get their hands on. Run contests fans can participate in via SMS, or mobile phone applications, and choose the fastest replies, or randomly select the winners out of only those that have answered correctly, through our interactive SMS Marketing software, or Bluetooth Proximity Marketing software.
Some stadiums already offer through huge screens (usually 1-4) that feature the best highlights. However, taking this service to the mobile phone is taking it to a whole new level.
The idea is that soon after a highlight occurs, you get a prompt on your mobile phone to download the highlight as a video on your mobile phone. The experience won't be as instantaneous as watching it on TV, but it's close. And it's interactive!
By receiving the video on your mobile, you can choose when to watch it, rather than 'just' missing it, and you can also watch it over and over. You can keep it on your mobile and show your friends who weren't at the stadium, or store it in your digital collection, by transferring it to your PC later on. Of course, you also have the option not to watch it at all -- you can't do this on regular TV and you miss the action sometimes when watching replays.
Naturally, because of the large concentration of people, stadiums are excellent places for 3rd-party promotional campaigns.
However, a great idea is to use mobile coupons (m-Coupons) for 'in-house' promotions, in order to 'redirect' fans to the stores to shop for gear. Give them a decent offer on their mobile, ask them to redeem it at the counter, and watch what happens..
